How It Works
01Foundation

Built on a solid foundation

Fortius Metals was spun out from Elementum 3D technology to develop revolutionary wire-based materials. Elementum 3D has already patented and commercialized this technology for powder bed fusion additive manufacturing. Our technology is recognized by NASA, the Air Force, Navy, Army, and many Tier 1 aerospace OEMs as an award-winning material to advance their designs.

02Material

Innovative alloys for fabrication

Fortius develops the materials and the process parameters that make large format metal additive manufacturing produce parts you can fly, drive and depend on.

Working with Fortius is easy

01

We engineer the material

The alloy is developed for your part and your process.

02

You design your part

Design for what the process can now reach, not around its limits.

03

Fabricate your part

Engage Fortius to build your prototypes, or run the build yourself. Fortius also can assist with process consulting for challenging builds.

03Capabilities

What the material makes possible

01

Stronger

Alloy systems engineered for structural performance in the as-built condition, not just for printability.

02

Lighter

High strength-to-weight aluminium systems that let designers remove mass instead of adding safety factor.

03

Complex designs

Geometry conventional fabrication cannot reach — built directly, at large format, in one continuous process.

04

Easy

Bring the part; Fortius brings the metallurgy, the parameters and the build.

Space

Structures where every gram carries a launch cost and every weld carries a mission.

Defense

Large structural components produced at pace, with domestic material supply.

03

Electric Vehicles

Alloy, material and process development

01

Alloy and material development

Fortius develops materials specific to customer requirements across a range of alloys. Fortius metallurgy is built for welding the unweldable — such as 1xxx, 2xxx, 6xxx, and 7xxx series aluminum — by solving hot tearing and hot cracking issues.

02

Process development and prototypes

Fortius develops process parameters specific to your preferred welding process. We can also fabricate your prototypes in-house.
