Terms & Conditions
These terms cover your use of this website and, where relevant, work carried out by Site Your Story (“we”, “us”). Any signed proposal or contract for a specific project takes precedence over this page where the two differ.
1. Using this website
You may view and use this site for lawful purposes. You may not attempt to disrupt it, gain unauthorised access to it, or copy its design, code or written content for use elsewhere without our written permission.
2. Enquiries and the free mockup
Sending an enquiry does not create a contract. The free homepage mockup we offer is exactly that — free, with no obligation on either side. We retain ownership of any mockup until a project is agreed and paid for.
3. Quotes and scope
Quotes are based on the scope described at the time. Work requested outside that scope may change the price and the timeline, and we will tell you before it does, not after.
4. Payment
Payment terms are set out in the proposal for your project. Invoices are due within the period stated on them.
5. Your responsibilities
To keep a project on schedule we need timely feedback, and any content, images, logos or access credentials you have agreed to supply. You confirm that you own or are licensed to use anything you send us, and that we may use it to build your site.
6. Ownership
On final payment, you own the finished website: the design, the page content, and the code we wrote for it. We retain ownership of any underlying tools, frameworks or components we reuse across projects, and of anything licensed from a third party, which passes to you under that third party's licence.
7. Showing the work
Unless you ask us not to, we may display the finished site in our portfolio and refer to you as a client. Tell us if you would rather we didn't and we will leave it out.
8. Third-party services
Your site may rely on services we do not control — hosting, domain registration, email, booking systems, payment processors. Those are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or for changes they make.
9. Performance claims
We build sites to load fast and to be structured correctly for search engines and AI assistants, and we stand behind that work. We cannot guarantee any particular search ranking, traffic level, or number of enquiries — those depend on factors outside our control, including the decisions of search engines and your market.
10. Liability
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, our total liability in connection with a project is limited to the fees you have paid us for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost business.
11. Cancellation
Either of us may end a project in writing. You pay for work completed up to that point; we hand over what has been completed and paid for.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update this page. The version in force for your project is the one in effect when the project was agreed.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which Site Your Story is established, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
